This is an authentic Nanbu tetsuware covered ashtray from 1971, crafted in Iwate Prefecture, Japan. A museum-quality example of traditional Japanese cast iron artistry, this piece combines functional design with exquisite decorative detailing.

  • Pattern: Grape and arabesque relief (budou karakusa mon) - a signature Nanbu motif representing abundance and auspiciousness. Surface: Pear-skin finish throughout, a traditional Nanbu surface treatment creating subtle texture. Lid Design: Three perforations for smoke ventilation with central chrysanthemum medallion and arabesque border detail. Body: Scallop-edged exterior with internal mortar-shaped ash receptacle.
