Overview

A beautifully diverse set of six Kutani-ware yunomi teacups, each hand-decorated with a unique overglaze enamel motif drawn from the celebrated Kutani gosai (five-color) tradition. Produced in Ishikawa Prefecture during the mid-to-late Showa period (c. 1950s-1980s) and presented in its original fitted wooden display box, this set is a compact showcase of classical Japanese ceramic artistry. It was almost certainly created as a presentation or commemorative gift, and it remains a complete and cohesive ensemble ideal for display or collector use.

6. Red-ground gold-gilt cloud-and-arabesque scrollwork (export Kutani style)

Condition

Overall condition is good to fair, consistent with vintage age. All six cups are structurally intact with no chips, cracks, or restorations noted. Light surface wear and minor age-related patina are visible on enamel and gilt areas. The wooden presentation box shows light cosmetic wear but is fully intact and functional.
